Where to stay for the 2027 Lisbon Half Marathon

In short

The EDP Lisbon Half Marathon is on Sunday 7 March 2027. It is point to point: it starts on the deck of the 25 de Abril Bridge on the Almada side, which runners can only reach by Fertagus train to Pragal, and finishes in Belém in front of the Jerónimos Monastery. Runners get the easiest race morning near a Fertagus station such as Entrecampos or Roma-Areeiro, while Baixa, Chiado and Santos suit runners and supporters who want the riverside course and a short train back from Belém. The field is capped at 20,000 and the 2027 ballot closed on 19 May 2026, so if you have a place, book a room you can cancel now and arrive by Saturday 6 March, when bib pickup ends.

Race morning

Every runner must take a Fertagus train to Pragal station on the south bank: it is the only way into the start, and spectators are not allowed on the bridge. In 2026 trains left Roma-Areeiro from 06:13 to 08:33 (Entrecampos 2 minutes later, Sete Rios 6 minutes later) and took 11 to 17 minutes to Pragal, each bib showed the train recommended for its wave, and the walk from Pragal took 10 to 15 minutes with security checks. Fertagus is free with your bib, as are the metro, buses and trains that take you to a Fertagus station. There is no bag drop at all, so wear throwaway layers; in 2026 clothes left at the start were collected and donated.

Questions

Where should I stay for the Lisbon Half Marathon?

For the easiest race morning, stay near a Fertagus station: Entrecampos and Roma-Areeiro are one train ride of 15 to 17 minutes from Pragal, the only way to the start. Baixa, Chiado, Cais do Sodré and Santos are the best all-round bases, with the metro to the Fertagus in the morning and a short Cascais line train back from the Belém finish. Supporters who want to be at the finish can stay in Belém.

How do I get to the Lisbon Half Marathon start?

Take a Fertagus train to Pragal station on the south bank, then walk to the start on the 25 de Abril Bridge (10 to 15 minutes in 2026). It is the only way in, and the train is free with your bib. In 2026 the bib also showed which train to catch for your wave, from 06:13 to 08:33 from Roma-Areeiro.

Can supporters watch on the 25 de Abril Bridge?

No. Only runners with a bib are allowed into the start area and onto the bridge. Supporters can watch along the river instead: Alcântara (about km 7 and 10.6), Santos (about km 9), Avenida da Índia in Belém (about km 14.5 and 20.3) and Algés (about km 15.8 and 19).

Is there a bag drop at the Lisbon Half Marathon?

No, there is no bag drop for any runner. In 2026 runners got a waist pouch for a phone and keys, and clothes left at the start were collected, washed and donated. A room near the finish, or near a direct train back from Belém, makes this easier.

Can I still get a place in the 2027 Lisbon Half Marathon?

Not through the ballot: it ran from 23 April to 19 May 2026, and the organisers say all places have been allocated, with the field capped at 20,000. Places are also sold through official tour operators and charity partners, so try those if you missed out.

Where do I pick up my Lisbon Half Marathon bib?

At the Sport Expo in the Centro de Congressos de Lisboa, in Junqueira, from Thursday 4 to Saturday 6 March 2027, 10:00 to 20:00. Bring the registration document sent by email; someone else can collect your bib with it. Nothing is handed out on race day.
